Randi Jill Atredies

Lead Vocalist & Keyboards

Randi was born in Philadelphia in 1968 and raised in Cherry Hill, NJ until her family relocated to Scottsdale in 1982.  At 4 she started singing and would sit under the piano when her 13 year old brother Marc would play, then would sneak out after he left and try to imitate what he played.  That’s when her parents decided to get her piano lessons.  At 12, she took her first voice lessons and was told she was untrainable.  Thankfully, she did not take that to heart.

At ASU she majored in Theatre with an emphasis on musical theatre.  She relocated to the Los Angeles area after college to “get her break” in the business.  Five musicals and two really big earthquakes later, she ran back to Arizona, where she is happy to stay.

Randi got her first real band experience in L.A. when she subbed for the lead vocalist of Voice of the Heart for a few gigs, and did some brief studio work.  She has sung at a few weddings and one funeral (sounds like a good movie title …)  In 1995, she was invited to be the lead female vocalist for oldies cover band The Midlife Crisis Band.  She sang and played some keyboards with them for 6 years.  The Big Zephyr marks her return to the stage after a 4 year hiatus.

Randi has had a deep love of music for as long as she can remember.  Everything from 70s disco to 90s alternative, soul/ r&b, country and all things pop.  Her musical influences range from The Manhattan Transfer to Basia, Alanis Morissette to Donna Summer, Sting/The Police to Billy Joel and Philly’s favorite sons, Hall & Oates.  She also loves to listen to Todd Rundgren, The Tubes, The Motels, Genesis and great Broadway Soundtracks (like “Rent” and “Wicked”).

Randi thanks her family for all their support and being her biggest fans, and especially her son, Matthew, who is also amazingly musically inclined, for being her best audience.  Most of all, she would like to thank Bill Babin for allowing her to be a part of this amazing rock and roll roller coaster.
