A WALK DOWN “RUBBERMEMORY LANE” is a series of blogs that pay tribute to The Rubber Memory, Bill Babin’s 20th century rock band from New Orleans. Bill is the founder, producer, and drummer for BIG ZEPHYR MUSIC. The Rubber Memory was active from 1962-1972 and released an album, WELCOME, in 1970. BIG ZEPHYR MUSIC has been rocking southwest audiences since 2005, based in Phoenix.
Hard to place in time the photos you will see in this blog. Suffice it to say they all take place between 1962 — 1972. The Rubber Memory was Bill Babin’s first band, an amazing 20th century mix of hard rock and originals. This first “rubbermemory” (shown above) is the original lineup of (l-r) David Greene, Bill Babin, David Parker, Ted Haas, Park Seward (seated).
The “147” is Ted’s actual address, the location where The Rubber Memory rehearsed and eventually recorded WELCOME, their one and only album in 1970.
More “rubbermemories.” A popular and upscale dinner / dance venue, THE COMPUTER, was the scene of one of our great publicity shoots. We had an amazing agent, Johnny Digiovanni, who did great things for us. He not only booked great events, but he also managed the purchase of a cargo trailer, upgrades to our PA, and stage dress.
Hopefully, Ted, David, and David will post comments about the guitars in this picture.
