A walk down “rubbermemory lane” #4… Beyond The Rubber Memory and on to OAKRIDGE

1970 brought the release of a great garage rock album, WELCOME, but it also meant we graduated from high school. David Greene and Park Seward left for college. Bill Babin, David Parker, and Ted Haas continued for another year as TRM. They added keyboardist and great friend JOE MONTELEPRE.

THey continued for another year, and in 1971 David Parker also left for college. At that time, we brought in BRIAN SIMEON on bass, a seasoned player and veteran of other NOLA bands.

These four guys became true rockers under the name of OAKRIDGE. Pictured here from left to right in 1971… Joe, Ted, Bill, and Brian is out of the picture to the right. But here he is below.

And THAT’s the Mosrite Bass.

Here is the only picture of TRM II, earthday, 1971, on the campus of University of New Orleans. David Parker, bass. therubbadrumma on drums. Ted Haas on guitar. Joe is off to the left on the Hammond Organ.

Here is Joe singing and playing his heart out. Also pictured at left is Jocelyn, who would later become “thesilverfox,” Bill Babin’s wife.

No memories would be perfect without a “school picture.” Here is therubbadrumma in the fall of 1972 in his official university photo. Look at that hair.

And here is OAKRIDGE in 2006 for a reunion. (Joe, Bill, Ted, Brian)
