The original album cover photo for WELCOME, 1970. Most of us were 18 in this pic.
THE REUNION SHOW
Old guys just can’t stop thinking about their youth. The year 2000 served the perfect opportunity to “put the band back together” and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of WELCOME. And we planned a huge party.
We actually created a “digital re-release” with both CDs and new vinyl pressings. Be careful, though. There are very few–probably less than 10–of the original 1970 vinyl copies and those go for as much as $1000. You can probably get a “reissue” for just shipping. Let me know.
We got a local church to give us a nice multi-purpose room with stage.
We invited everyone, and probably over 200 showed up. But it was a huge success.
Strangely I have very few pictures. Here’s that album cover as it appears on both the original and the reissue.
A wonderful composite of the five boys: Park Seward, David Parker, Bill Babin, David Greene, Ted Haas as they appeared on stage, 12 30 2000.
Original members of Rubber Memory: Bill, Park, David, Ted, David, 2024 April, at the original Rock and Bowl in NOLA.
The best part of our 2024 reunion came when most of us plus good friends Bob Cuyler and Doug Rainey traveled to the Gulf coast for a “guys trip” with some fishing, good eating, and a little bit of music.
We settled on the great 60s hit, GLORIA, and laid the foundation to produce a new version of the song, in the “heavy style” of the great VANILLA FUDGE. This is a totally informal video in which we are just beginning to work out some parts. So stay tuned for the final version in 2025.
